Open Poem to US Soldiers Stationed in Iraq

The Army calls out as Lady Liberty weeps.
Night stars gleam down on this path you must face.
An altered life direction now placed before you,
you receive your orders in the hours of darkness.A soldier's pride and self respect will keep our homeland safe.
With each day of your tour, you will uphold our honor. Yet remain true to your ideals during service to our country.
You represent America, The Land of the Free. Some have never seen
War, comprehending it, so unreal.
Your sacrifice will ensure our freedom's entitlement.
Inevitably life on the line, direction without principal,
shall give you vehemence to endure and stay focused.
You shall take up arms defending what we hold dear.
Resolve to bear whatever dangers may threaten to purloin this.
For what we've asked of you, you bestow so much to all,
our plights seem so trivial, for all you opt to face.
Entering this foreign desert sand, stationed to fight for freedom.
Callous wind and fiery sun battered,
your mission is to liberate.
As you proudly take a stand, feel the courage within yourself, to fear no evil and resist every enemy that dares to try in vain to steal that away.
As days and months seem endlessly marching past,
I shall whisper a prayer for you,
with each breeze that blows.
I will ask God to shield you and guide as you defend us,
through each brave Battle with faith and prayer.
As you band together in unity with strength you now share,
know that God holds you all in the palm of his hand.
Come back safely, we are waiting for you.
Don't ever feel discouraged or that you are alone,
and may you have Angels to illuminate your way home.
