Confectioner Sends Chocolates To Soldiers In Iraq

You'd never think a chocolate shop in Denver would have any connection to American soldiers in Iraq, but it seems that a little confection goes a long way toward boosting the troops' morale, and a grandma in Denver is now doing her part to supply the soldiers with sweet ammunition.

Many people want to do their part to support American troops but don't know how.

For chocolatier Anne Schilling, the idea came when she got an email from a soldier stationed in Iraq. The soldier wanted to order two small pieces of chocolate -- truffles.

Schilling said that she couldn't send only two small pieces of chocolate, so she enlisted her daughter Elizabeth and began a mission: to personally fatten and sweeten as many U.S. soldiers as she could.

Those soldiers did something sweet in return. They started sending her postcards and pictures from Iraq.

She now includes a long caring letter with each care package.

With all the chocolates she's sending and the shipping charges she's paying, Schilling has to be losing money. She shrugs it off, though, saying it's her duty to help the men and women overseas
